The shadow of Steve Prefontaine hovers all over "Tracktown USA." Thirty-seven years after his passing, the great "Pre" - who left us on the 30th of May 1975, the victim of a horrendous auto accident - eerily seems to be more alive than ever.

After clear pre-race favorite Alysia Montano, the women's 800m places appeared to be open to whoever could muster the best sprint. Jessica Cosby has received the honor after establishing the American record in the women’s hammer throw Friday at the Prefontaine Classic, along with high school athlete Meghan Vogel, who showed selfless sportsmanship at the Ohio High School Division III state meet.
