Five Team USA Minnesota Runners to Compete at USATF 15k Championships in Jacksonville March 11; Jamie Cheever at St. Pat’s Day 5k in Seattle March 12

Minneapolis/St. Paul – March 7, 2017 – Five Team USA Minnesota distance runners – Meghan Peyton, Jon Peterson, Rob Molke, Kevin Lewis and Ryan Rutherford – will be among the deep field of competitors at the USATF 15k Championships in Jacksonville on March 11.  The championships will be run in conjunction with the 40th annual Gate River Run which will have some 20,000 participants.
Peyton has a best in the 15k of 50:44 and Peterson has posted 45:49 in the distance.  Molke, Lewis and Rutherford will make their debut at the 15k as well as at the Gate River race.  Also competing at this event will be training partner Josh Dedering.
The Gate River Run is the largest 15k race in the U.S. and features an “equalizer” with the elite women starting at 8:24 a.m. followed by the elite men and first seeded wave of runners at 8:30 a.m. (Eastern time).  The 15k Championships is the second stop on the 2017 USATF Running Circuit.
On the West Coast, Jamie Cheever will defend her title at the St. Patrick’s Day Dash 5k which will be held on March 12 in downtown Seattle.  She won the race - which has some 3,500 runners - last year in 16:41.  The event starts at 8:30 a.m. (Pacific time).
