( Used by permission 2017, Race Results Weekly) LOS ANGELES (18-May) -- As the warm Southern California sun set over the Bill Henry Track at Jack Kemp Stadium at Occidental College here, action on the track heated up at the USATF Distance Classic, led by USA-leading and meet record marks by global medalists Matthew Centrowitz in the 1500m (3:33.41) and Brenda Martinez in the 800m (1:58.78).

A collection of the world’s best distance runners in the 5000m at the Prefontaine Classic will provide a preview of the IAAF World Championships London 2017 final when they take to the start line at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Eugene on 27 May.

Four World leads 2017 - BAIE MAHAULT (FRA, May 17): The traditional elite meet in Guadeloupe registered in total 4 World leads 2017. At Meeting Pro Athlé (French series) World Indoor champion Yulimar Rojas got the top mark of the year in triple 14.67 (+1.2). Jamaicans followed Kimberly Williams 14.35 (+1.4) and Shanieka Thomas 14.13 (-0.3). 2012 Olympic winner Brittney Reese leaped to long jump WL 698 (-0.2) ahead of British European indoor medalist Lorraine Ugen 676 (+0.4). Also third WL in jumping event, Will Claye of USA 17.40 (+0.5) in men triple what actually equaled the top mark of Cuban Andy Diaz. Behind him Chris Benard 17.15 (-0.2) with 2008 Olympic winner Nelson Evora fourth 16.77 (-0.1). Fourth WL in women 400 m hurdles when Kori Carter in 54.53 beat Jamaican Ristananna Tracey 54.56 and US Jaide Stepter 54.96. Olympic winner Ryan Crouser was clearly on top in shot put 21.79 one meter ahead of Jamaican O´Dayne Richards and Chukwu Enekwechi 20.67 PB. In sprints Mike Rodgers in 10.08 (-0.2) beat Canadian Andre De Grasse 10.10. LaShawn Merritt was the best in the 400 m 44.99 with Paul Dedewo second 45.14 PB. Also fast Aleec Harris 13.18 (0.0) and Sharika Nelvis 12.58 (-0.1) in the hurdles. Jenna Prandini scored a double with 11.25 (-0.4) and 22.70 (0.0) wins. In middle distances Andrew Bayer won steeple 8:28.89 and Cuban Rose Mary Almanza 800 m in 2:00.26. St. Lucia´s Levern Spencer was the best in women high jump 192.

Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson continued her winning streak at the second meeting of the 2017 IAAF Diamond League series on Saturday (13), as the Jamaican prevailed in the women’s 100m with a world lead of 10.78 in Shanghai.

INDIANAPOLIS -- The first six members of Team USATF have been named for the IAAF World Championships in London this August, USATF announced Thursday.

(PHOTO:Chris Nickinson/RunnerSpace) GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan -- Using an incredible amount of crowd support to push himself to the finish, Olympian Dathan Ritzenhein was back to his winning ways Saturday morning at the USATF 25 km Championships, while defending champion Aliphine Tuliamuk outlasted Neely Gracey to win the women’s race.

Blankenship and Lipari won $5000 each for their wins - Minneapolis, Minn. – May 11, 2017 – Stillwater native Ben Blankenship and Emily Lipari of Brighton, Mass. won professional races at the 12th running of the Medtronic TC 1 Mile Thursday evening.

After a highly acclaimed debut last summer, the TrackTown Summer Series returns in 2017 with a renewed commitment to provide top American track and field athletes with fun and innovative competitive opportunities on U.S. soil.

The 2017 TrackTown Summer Series 5K Road Race will take place on July 6 at 6:30 p.m. on Randall’s Island Park. All race participants will receive admission to the TrackTown Summer Series Championship meet with their race bibs. Participants will have the chance to run with professional athletes representing the four teams in the Championship meet: New York, San Francisco, Portland and Philadelphia. In addition, registrants will receive t-shirts that represent one of the four teams of the TrackTown Summer Series. These will be randomly assigned. To best be a part of the action, we recommend wearing your t-shirt while you cheer on your team at the Championship meet after your race!

A dozen Rio Olympic champions are set to face strong early season challenges as the 2017 IAAF Diamond League series continues in Shanghai on Saturday (13) evening.
