ROAD RACE MANAGEMENT RACE DIRECTORS’ MEETING AND TRADE EXHIBIT CONTINUES TO ATTRACT NEW EXHIBITORS AND ATTENDEES
With just five weeks to go, the annual Road Race Management Race Directors’ Meeting and Trade Show (November 5 – 7) is attracting a lot of attention. “In uncertain economic times, it is even more critical to network with other race official sponsors and vendors,” said Phil Stewart, Road Race Management Newsletter editor.
The three-day meeting offers formal sessions on critical topics for running event directors and officials, informal networking opportunities, and a chance for event directors to shop for equipment and service needs at the Trade Show.
Highlights of this year’s sessions include Adapting to Troubled Economic Times; Greening Your Event; Maximizing Race Merchandise Sales; Building, Revitalizing and Restructuring Race Committees; Contingency Planning; and Maintaining Good Sponsor Relations. The keynote speaker will be Bart Yasso, Chief Running Officer of Runner’s World, who will impart his candid reviews and impressions about the organization of races he has experienced over several decades. The full program is detailed at http://www.rrm.com/rdm/rdm.htm.
Exhibitors will include vendors offering awards, competitor numbers, banners, fencing, finish-line timing services, computer products and web services, magazines, photographic services, and t-shirts, jackets and other apparel.
The site at the Marriott Hollywood Beach Resort is right on the beach and offers a great environment for event directors not only to obtain valuable information, but also to unwind and network in a relaxed atmosphere. Many race committees reward committee members with a trip to the meeting, and scores of events have already signed up.
The Road Race Management meeting is sponsored by Ashworth Awards, Atlanta Track Club, Britten, Inc., ChronoTrack, Electric City Printing, Gatorade, Leslie Jordan, Inc., MarathonFoto, MarathonGuide.com, Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic, Running Network and the World’s Best 10K.
Road Race Management is a member-based organization that publishes a trade newsletter and several other publications in print and on the web for race and industry officials (www.rrm.com).
