RRCA Announces 2012 Roads Scholars
ARLINGTON, Va. - (July 31, 2012) - Since 1996, the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) has awarded grants totaling more than $400,000 through the Roads Scholar® program. The goal of the program is to assist American post-collegiate runners who show great promise to develop into national and world class road running athletes.

More than 30 Reigning World Champions Highlight Field at USA Masters Outdoor Championships
More than 30 athletes who won gold medals at the 2011 World Masters Outdoor Championships will be among the 1,118 total competitors at the upcoming USA Masters Outdoor Championships scheduled for August 2-5 at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex in Lisle, Ill.
2012 London Olympics: Record Numbers Looking Possible

In total 2151 athletes are entered for athletics at London Games. Among them 1117 men and 1034 women. Beijing 2008 had 2056 (1082 men and 974 women competing), Athens 2004 had 1995 (1079 and 916). But the record is so far from Sydney 2000 with 2137 athletes (1257 and 880). For example, Athens 1896 started with 63 competitors (all men). The biggest number of entries (could more than allowed to compete in each event, so the final numbers will be less) is in the women marathon 119 and men marathon 109.
Paula Radcliffe is Out of 2012 London Olympic Marathon
Paula Radcliffe, the world record holder in the marathon, has withdrawn from the London 2012 Olympic marathon. In her official statement (courtesy of the BBC.com), Paula cites a foot injury, which have made her unable to find a level of fitness that would allow her to compete well in the London Games.

Oh where do we begin? A great night of track & field that rain was playing a small part! An hour before the meet, the rain came down in torrents, adding to the most rain in a London July in two hundred years!
